B.C.’s Tess Critchlow withdraws from 2026 Winter Olympics

Tess Critchlow will not be competing in her third career Winter Olympic Games.

On Monday, Feb. 2, the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canada Snowboard announced that Critchlow has withdrawn from the 2026 games in Milano Cortina due to injury.

The 30-year-old from Big White was named to Canada’s snowboard cross team on Jan. 22.

While the injury in relation to her withdrawal is unknown at this time, Critchlow underwent knee surgery last September. In her recovery, she had the goal of making the 2026 Olympics in mind.

In 2018, she made her Olympic debut in PyeongChang where she finished ninth overall in snowboard cross. At the 2022 games in Beijing, she improved, finished sixth. She also competed alongside Liam Moffatt in the mixed snowboard cross event. They were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
