In late January, Environment Canada issued weather alerts in many parts of the country during some of the coldest days of the winter.
These included severe weather alerts for much of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario, as well as warnings about hazardous weather in eastern Alberta and through much of Ontario and southern Quebec.
Still, temperatures are warming and Canadian summers, when they arrive, are characterized by long, hot, sunny days in much of the country.
