FloHockey has announced that Saturday’s (Jan. 31) Abbotsford Canucks game against the Bakersfield Condors will be streamed for free on their YouTube and X accounts, as well as the AHL’s Facebook page.
Saturday’s game is set for 7 p.m. inside the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, Calif.
It’s a double-shot of free action on Saturday, as FloHockey is also offering the Saturday afternoon game between the Manitoba Moose and the Chicago Wolves for free. That game begins at noon Abbotsford time.

The free AHL game of the week promotion began last season and each game is announced during the week by both FloHockey and the AHL.
The Canucks and Condors (the affiliate team of the Edmonton Oilers) have been heated rivals for years and a lot of that bad blood originated in the 2022 Calder Cup playoffs. Abbotsford and Bakersfield met in round one of the playoffs, with the entire series occurring in California.
Game one of the best-of-three series saw the Canucks receive an amazing performance by goalie Spencer Martin and Abbotsford led 1-0 late into the third period. However, Bakersfield’s Seth Griffith scored the tying goal with just 30 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

The extra frame saw the Condors receive a power play in overtime and James Hamblin scored the winner. Martin made 45 saves in the loss, while Abbotsford fired 31 at Condors goalie Stuart Skinner.

Game two saw the Canucks take a 1-0 lead after a goal by Sheldon Dries in the first period, with the Condors answering back to tie it up in the second. Bakersfield then grabbed the 2-1 lead early in the third, but Abbotsford’s Sheldon Rempal tied the game up at 12:51 of the third.
It felt like another overtime was looming, until Condors forward Cooper Marody crashed the net and scored with 1:22 remaining. That goal eliminated the Canucks from the playoffs.

The two teams met the very next year, but this time the first round series was hosted by Abbotsford.
Game one saw the Canucks post a dominant 3-0 with and got goals from Nils Hoglander, Max Sasson and Jack Rathbone. Martin made 21 saves to record a shutout win.

Game two featured the Canucks jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first, but the Condors clawed back with goals in the second and third to tie the game up. Hoglander scored what would be the eventual series clinching goal at 7:36 of the third and John Stevens added an empty net goal for insurance for the 4-2 win. Arturs Silovs made 26 saves in the game two win.

Heading into this weekend, the Canucks have won 19 of 30 games the two teams have met in the regular season. Abbotsford dominated the season series in 2024-25 and won seven of eight meetings. Bakersfield has won both games between the two clubs this season.
The two teams play each other on Friday (Jan. 30) and Saturday (Jan. 31). Both games begin at 7 p.m. The Canucks return home to face the San Jose Barracuda on Feb. 6 and 7.
