If rugby has been on the radar of your child, but they’re not sure if it’s right for them, Sunday is an important day to mark on the calendar.
On Feb. 1, the Ridge Meadows Bruins Rugby Club is holding a free event for children ages five to 14 at Telosky Stadium.
It’s called the Try Rugby Day and it begins at 10 a.m. at the training field at 11600 Lougheed Hwy.
It’s for boys and girls, said organizers, specifying it’s a good event for children curious about trying a new sport or looking for something active and fun, that builds teamwork.
All sessions are led by coaches who focus on safety, fun, and skill development.
“Come give rugby a try,” said the organizers, noting the event is a chance to meet the coaches of the mini, U12, and U14 teams, have a fun introduction to rugby, and enjoy a free lunch for participants.
“At the Bruins, we believe rugby is more than a sport — it’s a community,” the organization boasts on its website.
