Vancouver Goldeneyes star forward Sarah Nurse has scored in every game she’s played this season, after scoring twice in Thursday’s (Jan. 22) game and helping the Goldeneyes secure a 5-0 win over the Toronto Sceptres.
The Hamilton, ON native was out for six weeks after suffering an upper-body injury during the first game of the season. She returned to the lineup against her former team, the Sceptres, on Jan. 24.
Vancouver hosted Toronto at the Pacific Coliseum in front of a nearly sold-out crowd of 14,006, including over 1,400 girls taking part in the WickFest hockey festival this weekend.
In the second period, Nurse scored 11 seconds after her teammate, Tereza Vanišová, scored, setting a new record for the fastest two goals by one team in the PWHL.

Izzy Daniel and Abby Boreen also scored for Vancouver (4-1-2-7), while goaltender Kristen Campbell aka. Soupie saved 24 out of 24 shots on net. This was Campbell’s fourth shutout of her PHWL career.
Toronto’s goaltender Elaine Chuli saved 23 out of 28 shots.
Nurse said, “The win was huge. In this league, it’s so tight and you want to get ahead as much as possible. It was a disappointing loss in Toronto because I thought we did play a good game, and probably deserved the win as well, but to come out of there with one point, that’s a step in the right direction. Then when you’re playing at home, we want to use home ice to our advantage, and I really think we did a great job with that today.”
After the final buzzer, the team formed a flying V to celebrate the win. Nurse said the team had been talking about it since the start of the season. “We practiced it the other day, it’s still a work in progress, but it’s something we really want to engage the fans in and we just want to have fun with it,” she said.
