Heavy rains have again caused road closures in Golden Ears Provincial Park, until further notice.
“Access to the northern portion of the park is closed to all recreational use from 7.5 km on the Golden Ears Parkway, immediately following the access road to Alouette Lake Boat Launch,” says the BC Parks website.
All campgrounds are closed in the park, and Alouette Park Management evacuated all campers on Monday, Jan. 12.
The cause is an atmospheric river that impacted roadways, and any changes to the closure will be posted on the BC Parks website.
There is still access the day use area, Mike Lake, and trails south of the closure.
Heavy rains have caused significant damage at the park in recent years, and the October 2024 atmospheric river damaged roads and trails, closing the park.
