Cody Glass scored two goals and helped on another, leading the visiting New Jersey Devils to a 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks in NHL action Friday at Rogers Arena.
Lenni Hameenaho, Nico Hischier and Connor Brown also scored for the Devils (27-22-2). Former Canuck Jacob Markstrom earned the win in goal, making 21 saves.
Linus Karlsson, Teddy Blueger, Zeev Buium and Conor Garland replied for the Canucks (17-29-5). Kevin Lankinen took the netminding loss, stopping 19 of 24 shots.
The Devils opened the scoring 1:41 into the game, when Hameenaho tallied his first NHL goal. A point shot from Simon Nemec rebounded off the back boards, and Hameenaho knocked it past Lankinen.
Shots after one period favoured the Devils, 8-4.
New Jersey extended their lead to 2-0 on a power play 2:34 into the second period, when Hischier converted a nice saucer pass from Jack Hughes for his 16th goal of the year.
Just 40 seconds later, Glass made it 3-0 with a nifty between-the-legs deflection of a Hameenaho point shot. Glass now has 12 goals on the season.
Vancouver got on the board at 9:47, when Karlsson potted his 11th of the year, slotting home a rebound of a Nils Hoglander shot.
At 11:59, the Canucks pulled within one, when Blueger scored a shorthanded marker, his second goal of the year, finishing off a 3-on-1 feed from Drew O’Connor and firing a shot over the right pad of Markstrom.
The Devils restored their two-goal lead at 15:12, when Arseny Gritsyuk found Brown open in the slot, and he ripped home his 10th of the year.

Buium made it 4-3 at 18:12, following his own shot to the net and deftly depositing the rebound behin Markstrom for his fifth goal of the year.
New Jersey outshot Vancouver 13-10 in the middle frame.
Glass added his second of the game 11:03 into the third, gaining position on Vancouver Brock Boeser and beating Lankinen to make it 5-3.
Vancouver pulled Lankinen in favour of an extra attacker with more than three minutes to go and Garland pulled Vancouver within one at 5-4, slotting in a rebound with 72 seconds left. The Devils managed to hang on for the win.
The Canucks host Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday (3 p.m.).
