All-ages EDM festival travels to Abbotsford for first time ever

Fans of electronic dance music (EDM) will be excited to hear that a major festival in the U.S. is making its way to Abbotsford for the first time ever.

Lost In Dreams has attracted countless rising stars in the DJ scene since debuting in 2021 and is the product of the electronic music event promotion company Insomniac.

According to the Insomniac website, the flagship festival has appeared at numerous cities throughout North America, with Abbotsford recently being announced as part of that list.

“Lost In Dreams seeks to provide the best in future bass, melodic dubstep, and vocal-driven dance music, highlighting the next generation of producers and DJs with the talents to take you on an emotive, transcendent journey,” said Insomniac.

At the top of the billing is Illenium, who is returning to the Lower Mainland for the first time in six years.

The American DJ is best known for his collaborative work with other mainstream artists, including The Chainsmokers, Teddy Swims, Jon Bellion, and many others.

His 2022 album Fallen Embers even earned him a Billboard Music Award for Top Dance/Electronic Album and got him nominated for a Grammy Award.

Fellow American DJ Elephante will also be performing, with audiences likely knowing him from his debut EP, I Am the Elephante, which has garnered nearly 140 million streams on Spotify since debuting in 2016.

Canadian musician Dabin will once again be working alongside Illuniam, after previously serving as the guitarist for Illuniam’s tours from 2017 to 2019.

As a DJ, Dabin has been able to find his own chunk of success, earning more than 60 million listens on his single First Time with singer Dylan Matthews.

Sabai is a staple in the Canadian future bass music scene, having his biggest breakout hit in 2020 with the song Million Days. Since then, Sabai has achieved a monthly Spotify tally of over 600,000 listeners.

The electronic music duo Telykast have produced many high-profile tracks from their base of operations in Los Angeles, including Unbreakable with Sam Gray and Loveless with Teddy Swims.

There will also be some local talent featured on stage, with Vancouver DJ Koji Aiken named to the upcoming Lost In Dreams roster.

Aiken’s most popular track on Spotify is his remix of Billie Eilish’s Ocean Eyes, which has had over 230,000 listens to date.

Representing Alberta is Oblvyn, who transitioned from a pop punk guitarist to a future bass artist. She has created multiple tracks that have surpassed a million streams, including With You, Enter REM, and Bike.

All of these artists can be seen on stage at the upcoming Lost In Dreams show at Tradex on Feb. 15.

There are multiple round-trip shuttle options available, departing from Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby.

The show is all-ages, but does offer VIP ticket packages that are only for people aged 19 and older.

Performances start at 6 p.m., with tickets and more information available at insomniac.com.
