There are about to be a lot more children named Noah starting school in B.C., with the province recently releasing its list of the top baby names of 2025, where Noah sat atop the list.
This was true for both the provincial and Fraser Health lists, with many of the same top names reflected across both regions.
Locally, there were some unique entries slipping into the top 10 spots, including Zorawar and Rehmat.
The Fraser Health region – which includes Abbotsford, Agassiz, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Delta, Hope, Langley, Maple Ridge, Mission, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey, and White Rock – facilitated nearly 20,000 births in 2025.
The most common names for these Fraser Health infants included:
• Noah (84)
• Olivia (66)
• Liam (63)
• Theodore (61)
• Zorawar (61)
• Oliver (60)
• Arjan (59)
• Rehmat (55)
• Lucas (53)
• Asees (51)
• Ethan (50)
• Sophia (50)
• James (47)
• Henry (43)
For the province as a whole, the winning names of 2025 were Noah, Oliver, Theodore, Liam, Olivia, Charlotte, Jack, Henry, Sophia, and James.
This isn’t the first time that Noah has come out on top for B.C., with the name also being the most popular in 2022 and 2023, before being temporarily replaced by Oliver in 2024.
James made quite the leap from the previous year, climbing up from the 33rd spot in 2024, to break into a top 10 position for the first time since 2017.
