The Maple Ridge Community Foundation has started 2026 by handing out some big checks.
The local charity first offered $10,000 to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, which has been raising funds to purchase new equipment and other improvements for the hospital since 1984.
Janine Davies, executive director of the hospital foundation, said the funds will be used for building renovations and retrofits that result in more and better patient-serving spaces at the hospital. She lauded the generosity of foundation and other donors to her non-profit group.
Next, the Foundation donated $13,800 to Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services.
The group noted the funds will be used to:
• Feed seniors through the Meals on Wheels program.
• Keep seniors connected through the Seniors Party Bus.
• Support young victims of abuse through the Alisa’s Wish Child and Youth Advocacy Centre.
• Strengthen youth mental health with the Maple Ridge Foundry.
The Maple Ridge Community Foundation is an independent charitable organization that offers grants, has a community chest for crisis financial support, gives Citizen of the Year Awards, and other initiatives to benefit the city.
