The Ridge Meadows Flames are coming off a big 7-1 win over the Chilliwack Jets in Sardis on Sunday night, Jan. 11, in Pacific Junior Hockey League ((PJHL) action.
Sam Allen had a hat trick and four points to lead the Flames, while rookie Manny Sandhu posted three assists to extend his points streak to eight games. He has four goals and 16 points on the streak.
Veteran goalie Matthew Candusso stopped 33 of 34 shots to get the win in net.
The Flames also won on Friday night when they beat the Langley Trappers 2-1, on goals by Joshua Bettesworth and Sandhu.
The game saw two newcomers shine – goalie Nicholas Muc stopped 39 of 40 shots for the win, while forward Matthew Biros had a pair of assists.
The Flames swapped goaltenders with the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers, acquiring Muc in exchange for Nathan Niedermeiser. Muc, who is from Pitt Meadows, will get the chance to play with his twin brother Cohen for the last games of his 20-year-old season.
Muc had a great season with the Chilliwack Jets last year, putting up 14 wins to three losses, a .922 save percentage and posting two shutouts. He was named to the PJHL all-star team.
In a busy start to 2026, the Flames also acquired Biros from the Trailblazers, and Jeremy Kraft who played with the Drumheller Dragons in the AJHL. Biros has played 45 games in the PJHL, racking up 32 goals and 32 assists. Kraft is from Abbotsford, and was a good scorer with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the BCEHL.
The Flames have 22 wins to 12 losses, and sit in second place in the Tom Shaw Conference.
The Flames will travel to George Preston Arena to take on the Langley Trappers on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Then on Friday night, they will host the Coastal Tsunami team at Cam Neely Arena. They have met six times this season, with the Flames winning four. Game time is 7 p.m.
