Poilievre pops into Maple Ridge

There was no fanfare, no big celebration planned.

Instead, federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre came through Maple Ridge relatively quietly on Friday.

It wasn’t until the day after the official opposition leader visited that Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge MP Marc Dalton posted about the drop in on social media.

“Glad that Pierre Poilievre could drop by Maple Ridge and meet with some of our delegates going to the Calgary convention,” Dalton said, refering to the Conservative assembly set for Jan. 29-31.

“I 100 per cent support Pierre!” Dalton proclaimed.

Meanwhile, the MP’s constituency assistant and former councillor dChelsa Meadus was also among those in attendance for the meeting, describing it as a “special night.”

It was, she said, about “taking time to learn what makes our community unique and to connect with the Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows Electoral District Association (EDA), who proudly represent the people of our area.”

Meadus elaborated: “In this small, intimate meeting, we were able to have meaningful conversations and share the real challenges our constituents are facing directly and honestly.”
