65 years ago: Community has a history of floods

Ahead of the heavy rains slated to hit the Lower Mainland between Saturday and early Tuesday, the team at Maple Ridge Museum dug into the archives for a related photo from the community’s massive photo album.

They were able to locate this one.

It depicts a flood-damaged picnic shelter at Maple Ridge Park (located at Fern Crescent and 232 Street), after a flood on Jan. 10, 1961.
