For the second year in a row, a Summerland dog is on its way to a prestigious dog show in the United States.
Am.GCh Hyclass Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On ( aka Jerry) will be at the 150th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in late January and early February.
At the 2025 show, the dog was named the number two pug.
“This is such an accomplishment to finish the year as the number two pug in breed points, two years in a row,” said Carole Walker, Jerry’s owner and breeder.
The pug is an all-Canadian breed of dog that was bred, born, and raised in Summerland.
Courtney Penner of Chilliwack has conditioned, trained, and presented the dog.
Penner will also show a Boston Terrier owned by her mother, Janet Penner of Osoyoos.
The terrier, GCh. Sitos You Bring the Whisky, I’ll Bring the Wine, is also known as Port.
Jerry and Port are good friends, Walker said.
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is limited to 2,500 dogs of all breeds from around the world.
