BC Highway Patrol are asking for the public’s help in solving a “mysterious collision” on the Coquihalla Highway near Hope that killed a Vancouver driver.
According to police, the 21-year-old woman was fatally injured on Dec. 27 when the white Toyota Yaris she was driving, on the southbound lanes between the Sowaqua chain-up area and Othello Road, went down an embankment. The woman was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries two days later.
“This crash occurred in broad daylight, but police have not been able to locate a single witness so far,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “The driver was never able to tell police what happened. We need witnesses and video to make sure there’s no criminal cause.”
The incident took place sometime between 11:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m.
Anyone who saw the Yaris before it left the road, or has dashcam footage related to the incident, is asked to call BC Highway Patrol-Chilliwack at 604-702-4039 and quote file (1501) 2025-54575.
