Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue joins search for missing man

Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue have joined the hunt for a man last seen on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Timothy Eyolfson, 62, is described as five foot, 10 inches tall, and weighing around 235 pounds. He has grey hair and hazel eyes.

His vehicle, a 2006 Black Mazda 3 hatchback, was located on a logging road near Florence Lake and Sayres Lake area in Mission, along the Florence Lake Forest Service Road, that runs north along the west side of Stave Lake.

His family and friends are very concerned for his well-being.

Eyolfson’s niece, Katelyn Finamore, noted online that her uncle is comfortable in the outdoors, but that he calls her aunt every day.

“So, It’s very unlike him to not be in contact,” she explained.

She also thanked the community for the support her family has received, saying her family is really grateful for, “all tips that were provided and eyes that were open on the roads and trails throughout BC. We honestly couldn’t thank the community enough for getting the word out,” she said.

Members of Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue, joined team members from Coquitlam Search and Rescue, Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue Society and South Fraser Search and Rescue on Saturday, Dec. 27.

However, Finamore noted, the teams had to suspend the search a couple of times over the holidays due to a lack of volunteers.

Brent Boulet, team leader with the local Search and Rescue team, said members were still searching for Eyolfson the morning of Monday, Dec. 29.

Ridge Meadows RCMP confirmed they are still looking for Eyolfson and said they have completed a number of investigative steps and are working with other agencies to locate the missing man, including Search and Rescue.

“We appreciate the public’s assistance in this matter. Further information will be released as it becomes available,” said RCMP.

Anyone with information on Eyolfson’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251 and quote file #2025-26458.
