Everybody was safe and sound after a garage fire at a home in Maple Ridge on Boxing Day.
Firefighters raced to the house at 4:33 p.m. on 206a Street, just south of Thorne Avenue, on Friday, Dec. 26, where they discovered smoke coming from a garage attached to the house.
Assistant fire chief Nick Virs explained a neighbour first noticed smoke coming out from around the door of the garage and called 911, but they could not put water on the fire as the door to the garage was closed.
Nobody was in the house at the time.
Virs said they managed to contain the fire to the garage and there was no damage to the house.
