Electronic mobility bike stolen in Maple Ridge, returned anonymously

A stolen electronic mobility bike belonging to a child with special needs was turned into police anonymously.

The black Volt Trio Trike with a car seat on the back was returned to the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 23.

Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers and City of Maple Ridge Community Safety Officers helped ensure the bike was properly identified and transported back to the owner.

“Thank you to the public and our community partners for their assistance in this matter,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP Staff Sgt. Kuldeep Dhillon.

“The owner was very appreciative of everyone’s efforts, especially being new to the community, and helping make the holidays a little brighter for their family,” added Dhillon.

The bike was stolen off a rack outside a store at a mall in the 11800 block of 224 Street, on Friday, Dec. 19, at around 1 p.m.

A local resident flagged down police officers at around 1:30 p.m., and told them that the bike was stolen in the northwest corner, outside the store.

Since then officers had received a few tips from the public, and, they say, the investigation into the theft is still ongoing.
