An upcoming Kelowna film production will capture one of the final interviews with Oscar-Nominated Indigenous actor Graham Greene.
The documentary Good to be Seen follows star of the Battlestar Galactica franchise Michael Hogan as he recovers from a life-altering accident that left him with a severe brain injury, and is produced by two Kelowna film producers Norm Coyne and Jeremy Picco.
Greene, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Kicking Bird in the American Civil War epic Dancing With Wolves (1990), is featured in the documentary due to his close relationship with Hogan.
The Indigenous actor from Oneida Nation died on Sept. 1, 2025, making his feature in Good to be Seen one of his final on-film moments.
“Graham was incredibly generous with his time, his stories and his heart,” said Coyne. “With his passing, that conversation now holds even deeper meaning.”
Coyne, being a member of the Syilx Okanagan Nation, said he felt a deep personal connection with the opportunity to interview Greene.
“Graham didn’t just open doors – he stood in the doorway and held it open for generations of Indigenous filmmakers,” Coyne said. “His career showed us that our stories belong everywhere, not just in the margins. Sitting with him in that moment was a gift I will always carry.”
Co-director of the film Kate Kroll added, “This interview reflects everything Graham stood for – truth, strength and representation. His voice will continue to educate and inspire through this film.”
Good to Be Seen centres on the themes of reclaiming one’s voice and identity after tragedy. The filmmakers say the inclusion of Greene’s final interview before his passing adds “profound historical and emotional weight to the project.”
The documentary is set to wrap-up production in early 2026, and has plans for a world premiere at a major international film festival in the fall of next year.
