TransLink boosts bus service on Maple Ridge routes

The regional transit authority is boosting winter services on 37 Metro Vancouver Bus routes, including in Maple Ridge.

TransLink has added more service on both the 745 and 746 routes to shorten wait times. The 745 Haney Place-Cottonwood will see buses every 30 minutes toward Haney Place from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., from 60 minutes. The 746 Haney Place-Albion will see buses every 30 minutes toward Albion from 10:30 a.m. t0 11:30 a.m., from 60 minutes.

However, the 791 Haney Place-Braid Station will see one less trip on weekday mornings. The trip towards Kingsway and Mary Hill Bypass at 7:42 a.m. will no longer run from Monday to Friday.

There are numerous other changes to routes across the system, including more Seabus service.

The changes are designed to reduce overcrowding, improve convenience, and extend service hours, and will take effect on Monday, Jan. 5.

The top five municipalities receiving the most new bus service this winter are:

• Vancouver – more than 11,000 additional service hours on eight routes.

• Coquitlam – nearly 10,000 additional service hours on 13 routes.

• Burnaby – nearly 8,500 additional service hours on seven routes.

• New Westminster – more than 8,000 additional service hours on nine routes.

• Surrey – nearly 7,000 additional service hours on eight routes.

The holidays also impact schedules. The West Coast Express will not run on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 25 and 26, and will run on an earlier schedule for Dec. 24.

Bus schedules will be adjusted on Dec. 25 and 26 as well. For information see translink.ca
