A B.C. nurse who lives in Maple Ridge was suspended for one week for inappropriately touching a student.
According to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwifes, Salendra Kumar touched the student inappropriately on two occasions between December 2023 and April 2024.
Kumar is a licensed practical nurse whose primary employer is listed by the college as Fraser Health.
It is not clear whether Kumar worked in Maple Ridge when the incidents took place.
A panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement between the college and Kumar on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Kumar has voluntarily agreed to a reprimand and a one week suspension of their registration, and “remedial education in the domains of boundaries and respectful workplace.”
“Nurses are required to treat colleagues, students, and other health care workers in a respectful manner and maintain professional boundaries at all times,” said the college in the consent agreement notice, adding that they are satisfied that the terms of the agreement will address the professional and practice concerns that arose and will protect the public.
The notification did not provide any further details about the exact nature of what exactly happened.
Kumar’s suspension runs from Thursday, Dec. 11, to Wednesday, Dec. 17.
