B.C.’s Isaac Boehmer re-signs with Vancouver Whitecaps

The reigning Western Conference-champion Vancouver Whitecaps have re-signed Penticton-born goalkeeper Isaac Boehmer, the Major League Soccer club announced on Dec. 8.

Boehmer’s new deal will see him stay in his home province through the 2027 season, with a club option for 2028.

The 24-year-old was born in Penticton and resided in nearby Okanagan Falls.

A product of Penticton-based Pinnacles FC, Boehmer first signed with the Whitecaps in August 2020 after coming through the club’s youth ranks.

He has gone on to make 18 appearances with the first team. Ten of those came in Canadian Championship action, as Boehmer led Vancouver to back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025.

In 2024, after the Whitecaps beat Toronto FC in the Canadian Championship, the South Okanagan talent was awarded the George Gross Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player of the tournament and named the Best Young Canadian Player.

Boehmer also made two starts in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup against Mexican side CF Monterrey.

“As a product of our academy and British Columbia, it is clear that Isaac takes great pride in playing for this club,” said Whitecaps CEO and sporting director Axel Schuster. “He has continued to develop since joining our club and signing his first pro contract back in 2020. Over the past two years, he has played a key role in several important cup matches.”

In his youth — along with playing at Pinnacles FC in Penticton and with Thompson Okanagan FC in the BC Soccer Premier League — the goalkeeper had a training stint in Germany with Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04’s youth academy.

He is now the second-longest-serving first-team player with the Whitecaps.

“Over the past several years, Vancouver has become a second home for me,” Boehmer said.

“I’m excited to extend my time here with the club. Axel and (Whitecaps coach Jesper Sorensen) have made it clear what this club’s intentions are going forward. I want to continue to bring trophies to this city and can’t wait to give my all in front of the fans over the coming years.”

Vancouver is coming off a trip to the MLS Cup Finals, where it lost 3-2 to Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on Dec. 6.
