VIDEO: Payback by Portland as Vancouver Giants fall on the road

Vancouver Giants fell 4-2 in Portland against the Winterhawks at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 7.

After a scoreless first period, Portland scored twice to take the lead in the opening minutes of the second period, but Vancouver made it a tie game, with goals by Jakob Oreskovic and Tobias Tomik.

In the third period, Portland took the lead, scoring what would turn out to be the game winning goal on a power play after Marek Howell was sent off for holding at 2:07, followed by the insrance marker at16:00.

It was payback for Portland’s loss on Friday, when Vancouver Giants captain Ty Halaburda scored twice, the second time with 12.4 seconds to go in the game, for a 3-2 win over the visiting Winterhawks at Langley Events Centre.

Giants are currently ranked 10th of 12 teams in western conference standings.

Next, a trip to Victoria Friday, Dec. 12.
