Ridge Meadows Flames host Burnaby Steelers on Friday night

Maple Ridge’s Junior A hockey team will be back in action on Friday night (Dec. 5) at Cam Neely Arena.

The Flames will host the Burnaby Steelers, who have eight wins, 16 losses and a shootout loss on the season, and sit 13th in the Pacific Junior Hockey League. The Flames are fifth in the 16-team league, with a record of 14 wins and eight losses.

The Flames are coming off a 4-3 loss to Coastal Tsunami on Nov. 29, but took a four-game winning streak into that contest in Gibsons.

Team captain Zack Lagrange, last year’s scoring leader, has been running hot. He has goals in five straight games, and eight points over that span. That gives the Pitt Meadows player 10 goals and 16 points in 13 games.

Rookie forward Manny Sandhu has points in eight straight games, with 11 assists over the streak, and six goals and 21 points in 17 games.

Veteran goaltender Matt Candusso has won four of his last five games, including one via shutout. His 12 wins on the season is tied for second among goaltenders.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
