Pedestrian killed in Abbotsford collision

A pedestrian was killed on Friday morning (Dec. 5) in Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford Police Department said in a social media post that a white pickup truck struck the pedestrian at 5:28 a.m. on McCallum Road near Busby Road.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found the pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries and they were taken to hospital but didn’t survive.

Police say impairment wasn’t a factor in the crash and the driver is cooperating.

“While impairment is not believed to be a factor, poor lighting conditions in the area and dark clothing are considered factors in the collision,” police said.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is supporting APD’s investigation which is in its early stages.

The incident closed McCallum Road in both directions between Marshall Road and Cannon Avenue. Police expect McCallum Road will be closed for several hours as of 8 a.m.

Those with information or dashcam footage are encouraged to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
