A Maple Ridge landscape artist is part of a “Winter” exhibition in White Rock.
The “White Rock Gallery Winter Show” will showcase the work of Renato Muccillo, who is internationally known for his oil paintings of local scenes.
Muccillo, who has called Maple Ridge home since 2006, has released eight new paintings which guests will be able to view at the gallery including: “Ilutimi Fiori”, an oil on canvas; “Confluence at Dusk, an oil on panel; and “Evening October Light”, another oil on panel.
In a 2021 interview as Muccillo was preparing for his first solo show at an art gallery in New York, he said he quickly came to understand the magic of the landscape in Maple Ridge after he painted a drainage ditch with algae blooms in the water.
The finished painting he called “Sanctuary” was exhibited at an art gallery in Seattle, where, he said, guests were drawn to it.
He described it as a career-changing moment.
A lot of Muccillo’s art features nature scenes across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
Muccillo is represented locally by the White Rock Gallery where he holds a show about once a year.
The show will also feature the work of 27 other artists the gallery represents.
A reception will be taking place from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the gallery at 1247 Johnston Road, White Rock.
