Kelowna councillor presses play on new podcast

There’s a new podcast in town.

Kelowna city councillor Mohini Singh has started a new podcast called Chai and Chat with Mohini.

“I felt our community was seriously losing avenues where people could express themselves. Having a robust and strong media is essential for a healthy community,” Singh told Black Press Media. “The recent cuts to the media really upset and annoyed me, I just felt someone should do something.”

On the inaugural episode, which was released on Monday, Dec. 1, Singh talks with Pam Turgeon, the co-founder of the Parade with a Purpose, taking place in downtown Kelowna this Satruday, Dec. 6.

The parade started in 2020 in the Kettle Valley neighbourhood and has grown in popularity, moving to the downtown core in 2024.

This year, donations collected at the event will be going to the KGH Foundation to support mental health care.

The parade runs from 6 to 7 p.m. along Bernard Avenue.

“[The podcast] will cover topics that are relevant to our community ranging from emotional issues to some that are controversial and worthy of discussion,” said Singh. “I hope to be engaging and give our citizens a chance to voice their issues.”
