ON THE PAGE: Holidays are magical at the library

As the holiday season approaches, it’s the perfect time to celebrate with fun and festive activities.

The library has a wide range of free events for all ages to enjoy this December – be sure to check them out!

This year, we kicked off the season with our Puzzle Sale on Saturday, Nov. 29.

There’s nothing cozier than spending a cold, rainy day with a warm drink and a fun puzzle, and we had plenty to choose from. Whether people were looking for puzzles for adults or kids, they found a wide selection of gently used puzzles at unbeatable prices. Plus, all proceeds support library programs and services, making it a wonderful way to give back while stocking up on puzzles for the holidays.

Next, we invite you to join us on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. for Christmas Tea with the Silvertones.

This local senior choir has been a holiday tradition at the library for more than 10 years, and we’re excited to welcome them back for another festive afternoon. Enjoy beautiful holiday music, delicious treats, and great company – it’s the perfect way to kick off the season!

Teens won’t want to miss out on our Cookie Decorating Party on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m.

We’ve partnered with Hansel and Gretel Bakery to bring you fresh, delicious cookies that you can decorate with colourful icing and fun toppings. This drop-in event is the perfect way to get creative and get in the holiday spirit – whether you choose to keep your cookies for yourself or share them with friends.

For families, our Christmas Puppet Show on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m., is a must-see.

Gather around for some fun holiday stories and songs, and a magical performance behind a real puppet stage. It’s a festive event that will delight children and adults alike.

And, at the Pitt Meadows Library there will be a Christmas-themed Pyjama Storytime on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Children and caregivers will be entertained with holiday stories, songs, rhymes, and more. Kids are encouraged to wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite stuffie.

Finally, if you’re looking for inspiration for your holiday baking and decorating, don’t forget to check out our collection of new Christmas magazines. Packed with delicious recipes and creative decorating ideas, they’ll help make your holiday season even more special. You’ll find them in the foyer of the library.

Your local library is full of amazing things for you to discover for free.

For more information about these and other Fraser Valley Regional Library programs and services, visit your local branch online, at www.fvrl.bc.ca, or come check us out in person.

See you at the library!
