Original Story:
The B.C. Wildfire Service has reported a new, out-of-control wildfire north of Agassiz.
The Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department indicated the fire is currently not a threat to the community.
The fire was discovered off the Mount Woodside Forest Service Road, approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of Campbell Lake, at approximately 5:19 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and is believed to be less than one hectare in size. It is currently the only wildfire in B.C. listed as “out of control.”
Prior to Wednesday, the last wildfire this year was at Bear Creek north of Harrison Hot Springs, burning more than 200 hectares over the course of nearly two months. It was declared out on Sept. 22.
The cause of the fire is under investigation as of early Thursday morning.
