The City of Maple Ridge is getting decorated for Christmas.
A city contractor was lining the streets along Lougheed Highway and 224th Street with the traditional red bells the city is known for.
There are Christmas trees in planters in front of The Act, trees and poles wound in coloured lights, and Memorial Peace Park always has numerous lighting features. The Horse Clock, trees and buildings in the downtown are all being strung with lights and decorations.
The bells have been a fixture here since they were originally bought by the downtown business improvement association in 1966. They eventually got old, but in 2013, the city found the original mold, and had a new set of bells manufactured.
Downtown will be looking its best for the Santa Clause parade and Christmas in the Park, coming up on Dec. 6, and running from 4-8 p.m. Three will be a Christmas market, food trucks, photos with Santa and much more. The parade starts at 6 p.m.
