Maple Ridge East MLA Lawrence Mok and the Food Bank on Wheels are partnering on a food drive.
The drive is happening from now until Monday, Dec. 15, and Mok’s office at 102-23015 Dewdney Trunk Rd. is accepting food donations and needed items from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
The recommended food donations include: Juice, pasta, tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo, healthy cereals, oatmeal, Kraft Dinner, peanut butter, canned fruits, canned meats, canned fish and tuna, canned vegetables, food for school lunches, jam, pudding, fruit snacks, granola, and protein bars.
Sundry items needed include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dish detergent, laundry detergent, and toilet paper.
The Food Bank on Wheels is also accepting monetary donations and will provide Canada Revenue Agency charity receipts for said donations.
“The food bank on wheels is a food bank that focuses on supporting single-parent families with disabilities who find it difficult to access traditional food banks,” said Mok. “As a result, the food bank on wheels performs a home delivery system that helps families in Maple Ridge and across the Lower Mainland.”
“I am happy to be working alongside the Food Bank on Wheels to help support families in need this holiday season,” he continued. “With food banks seeing a much higher demand for their services and with expensive grocery prices persisting, lending a hand to vulnerable families, and ensuring they have access to food and other supplies is essential. I welcome everyone who wishes to donate to visit my office on the corner of 230th Street and Dewdney Trunk Road and show their support for an amazing cause.”
