Dear Editor,
[RE – VIDEO: Remembrance Day ceremony draws large crowds in Pitt Meadows, Nov. 11, www.mapleridgenews.com]
Very nice articles in the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News regarding Remembrance Day.
My husband and I attend every year. My father was overseas in the Second World War and my husband’s father was younger in the East Coast in preparation to go overseas.
Remembrance Day was sunny, and although the article said an estimated 1,500 people attended, I did a rough count and figure there was closer to 4,000 people – counting all the little tykes.
As well, there was no mention of the individuals who flew overhead in the three planes. That was a really nice gesture for them to do that for the crowd and much appreciated by all in attendance.
And one more thing, my husband uses a cane and a volunteer woman went and retrieved a chair for him and two others, which was very kind of her. Didn’t get her name, but our thanks goes out to her and for all the work of everyone involved in the wonderful ceremony.
