While everyone is looking for a good deal nowadays, Buckerfield’s is warning people not to purchase the store’s former pet products being resold at discounted prices on third-party sites to avoid putting their pets at risk.
General manager Peter Armstrong said that the company recently noticed that there has been a selection of pet food and treats being sold on platforms such as Kijiji, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace that carry major health risks.
That’s because these items have been salvaged from the major fire that the Abbotsford store suffered back in July.
“The salvage of these contaminated consumable products is a breach of contract between Buckerfield’s and our insurer, who had agreed to discard and dispose of these items,” said Armstrong.
Since these products were involved in the fire, they could carry significant health risks for the animals, warned Armstrong.
“If you have already purchased these items, please do not feed them to your animals and dispose of the items in your municipal compost or garbage.”
Now that Buckerfield’s has reopened from the fire, Armstrong said that customers looking for replacements for these contaminated items can stop by the store to pick up some authorized and safe versions of their beloved pet product brands.
