One person was reportedly taken to hospital after shots were fired outside a home in Surrey Sunday night.
Around 9:10 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 23), Surrey Police Service responded to reports of shots fired outside a home in the 12100-block of 101B Avenue, according to a freelance photographer at the scene, who noted there were unconfirmed reports that one person was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police closed the road and put up police tape while they investigated the incident, the photographer said.
Around the same time, an SPS cruiser was involved in a crash with another vehicle.
While the photographer on scene said it appeared the police vehicle had T-boned the other car, senior media relations officer Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said Monday (Nov. 24) that two officers in a marked SPS vehicle “were responding with their lights and sirens activated to the shooting that occurred in the 12100-block of 101B Avenue when their vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the 12500-block of 96 Avenue.”
The two officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were both taken to hospital for treatment, Houghton noted, while the two occupants of the vehicle that struck the police SUV were not injured.
The collision remains under investigation.
An SPS release related to the shots fired incident is expected later Monday morning.
