1st Haney Scout Group will be up and running this weekend with their Christmas Tree fundraiser.
About 750 Christmas trees are now packed into a section of the Trek Bicycle Maple Ridge parking lot at the corner of Lougheed Highway and 216 Street, where members of the group will be selling the trees to raise money for their organization.
They will be selling a selection of Fraser firs, grand firs, noble firs, subalpine firs, and more. Trees range from 3 feet tall to 12 feet tall.
This is one of their big fundraisers for the year, said David Meunier, group commissioner with the 1st Haney Scouts.
Money will be going towards replacing and updating their equipment, he said, in addition to future outings and adventures.
“We often need to repair and buy new tents every year, stoves, and other equipment, for us to take all of our kids camping,” Meunier noted.
“And then it also goes to support other events that our scout group does. In the last year our kids went river rafting, sailing, and a few other events,” added Meunier.
The Christmas tree stall will be open for business starting Saturday, Nov. 22, until Saturday, Dec. 20, or until they sell out.
And, Meunier noted, for about the last 10 years, they have sold out.
They will be open Monday to Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Both card and cash are accepted.
