Andersson’s 3 points lift Flames to 5-2 triumph over Vancouver Canucks

The Calgary Flames got goals from five different players, en route to a 5-2 road win over the Vancouver Canucks in NHL action Sunday at Rogers Arena.

Morgan Frost, Connor Zary, Kevin Bahl, Yegor Sharangovich and Blake Coleman scored for the Flames (8-13-3), while Rasmus Andersson had three assists. Dustin Wolf was sharp in goal, earning the win with 28 saves.

Filip Hronek and Quinn Hughes replied for Vancouver (9-12-2). Kevin Lankinen took the loss in net, stopping 16 of 21 shots he faced.

Hronek opened the scoring just 65 seconds in, beating Wolf on a 2-on-1 for his second goal of the year.

Frost pulled the Flames even at 7:33, tipping home an Andersson pass from the slot. Just 35 seconds later, Zary gave the Flames a 2-1 lead, knocking home a rebound off a Mikael Backlund shot.

Shots on goal after 20 minutes favoured the Canucks, 13-7.

Bahl made it 3-1 midway through the second period, beating Lankinen from the left offensive circle. Sharangovich upped the lead to 4-1 at 16:31, batting home a rebound from in front of Lankinen. Both Bahl and Sharangovich have three goals this season.

In the final period, Calgary scored their fifth straight goal eight minutes in, when Coleman scored shorthanded, tipping home a pass from Backlund after a Vancouver giveaway. Coleman has eight goals on the year.

Hughes wrapped up the scoring on the power play at 8:16, scoring off his own rebound after a rink-length dash. It was the second goal of the year for the Vancouver captain.

The Canucks host the Anaheim Ducks Wednesday (7 p.m.).

NOTES: The Flames have won three games in a row, while the Canucks have dropped six of seven… Nazem Kadri and Coleman had two points apiece for Calgary, while Bahl and Andersson were both plus-4 on the night… Hughes played 30:05 and had six shots on goal for Vancouver… Each team had four power-play chances, with Vancouver producing the lone man-advantage goal… The Flames remain in the Pacific Division basement, but are now just one point back of the Canucks.
