Vancouver Goldeneyes unveil roster ahead of inaugural season

The regular-season roster for the inaugural Vancouver Goldeneyes season was announced Thursday (Nov. 20).

The final Goldeneyes 2025-26 season roster includes a maximum of 23 active players: 13 forwards, seven defenders, and three goaltenders. The team’s roster is 26 players, with three reserved players.

“We had a very competitive training camp with a high-calibre group of players,” said Goldeneyes general manager Cara Gardner Morey. “Our roster for the 2025-26 season is fast, physical and skilled, with a solid defensive foundation and an exciting forward corps. We can’t wait to introduce this group to Vancouver when they take to the ice for our first game tomorrow at the Pacific Coliseum.”

The Vancouver Goldeneyes are set to drop the puck in front of a sold-out crowd in Vancouver on Nov. 21 against Seattle Torrent for its inaugural season.

After training camp, it was announced that Brianna Brooks, Darcie Lappan, and Malia Schneider were signed to reserve player contracts. Defender Nina Jobst-Smith is starting the season on the long-term injured reserve list, so Lapan will play in her place.

The Goldeneyes announced Tuesday (Nov. 18) that three forwards (Chanreet Bassi, Brianna Brooks and Taylor Lind), three defenders (Madison Clough, Karley Garcia, and Kennesha Miswaggon) and goaltender Erica Fryer have been released following training camps.

On Wednesday (Nov. 19), the Goldeneyes announced it had acquired forward Anna Segedi from Minnesota Frost in exchange for forward Denisa Křížová.

“We’re looking forward to having Anna bring her energy and strength down the middle to our team as we begin our inaugural season,” said Gardner Morey. “This was not an easy decision to make. Denisa is not just a strong forward, but a high-quality individual, and has been a valuable member of our team in her short time with the Goldeneyes.”

Myles Fitzgerald also joined the team as an assistant coach. The Port Alberni native joins the team from the UBC men’s hockey team.

“We’re excited to have Myles join our staff and bring his skills coaching and player development experience to the team,” said Gardner Morey. “He is well-respected amongst players and has worked in all levels of the game, including professional and international women’s hockey. His previous experience coaching several of our players and his work developing players’ offensive side will be an asset to our team.”

The Vancouver Goldeneyes are set to drop the puck in front of a sold-out crowd in Vancouver on Nov. 21 against Seattle Torrent for its inaugural season.
