The Hope community is being asked to show some spirit and help the town be chosen for HGTV’s Home Town Takeover Canada.
AdvantageHOPE is asking residents to stop by the stage at Memorial Park, on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m., to help them video and stream why “Hope is the greatest town in Canada.” People are asked to come dressed up, to make and bring posters with either the phrase “Home Town Takeover, come to Hope!” or the word “HGTV” on it, and show the television channel that Hope is worth being excited about.
“What they want to see in the show is the community spirit,” said Amanda Figlarska, marketing manager for AdvantageHOPE. “So, it would be great if people could come and support this. And this would be for the whole community, if we’re chosen. They’ll be here for four months filming, and that will help put Hope on the map a little bit. So, it’s a big opportunity.”
Everyone is advised to dress warmly and also consider decorating their umbrellas if it rains. Figlarska said that balloons will also be available at the Hope, Cascades & Canyons Visitor Centre for people to pick up.
Home Town Takeover is an American show where husband and wife team Ben and Erin Napier lead a major project to revitalize a small town. This is done by renovating homes, businesses, public spaces, historic buildings, and sharing the stories about the community and its people.
This is the first time that the show is coming to Canada and filming will be done in 2026. During this time, the team will work with Canadian designers and builders to make a big impact on the community.
Thanks to Figlarska’s efforts, who put in over 100 hours on Hope’s application for the show, the town has reached the next round of casting for the show.
“Even if this is as far as we go, we couldn’t be prouder to represent Hope,” AdvantageHOPE said via social media. “There truly is no other place in Canada with a heart as big as ours. We’ve seen it time and time again, during floods, fires, and in the everyday acts of kindness that fill this town.
“Here people help people, share positivity, and show what community really means. Yes, there are jokes about ‘no hope in Hope,’ but we know the truth. Our people are what makes this place home.”
