Maple Ridge Community Foundation to hold granting cycle celebration

Maple Ridge Community Foundation is celebrating the good in the community and everyone is welcome to attend.

The foundation is holding their annual Community Funding and Impacts Night, where community recipients will be receiving cheques from the foundation’s annual granting cycle.

This year more than $103,398.36 is being handed out to groups or individuals who have had a positive impact on the community.

Each recipient will have an opportunity to say a few words about their organization and what project the money will be supporting.

There will be 12 grants awarded from the Maple Ridge Community Foundation Endowment Fund, and then another nine grants from directed funds – these are grants from people who have started their own fund, but the foundation manages the finances. Like the George Mussallem Youth Fund which supports projects benefiting youth in Maple Ridge.

“They tell us specifically where they want the money to go,” explained Amy Pridday with the foundation.

Grant applications were submitted in September, and then a Granting Committee made up of board members and volunteers reviewed the applications and chose the recipients.

“This is such a great night for the Foundation, as it’s essentially a capstone for all the hard work and dedication we put in over the year—as well as the amazing support we get from our community. We get to hear first hand the impact our work is making in Maple Ridge,” added Pridday.

Community Funding and Impacts Night takes place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Burnett Fellowship Church, 20639 – 123 Ave., Maple Ridge.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and it is open to everyone and free to attend.
