Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services (MRPMCS) is taking over control of Alouette Addictions.
The Alouette Addictions Services Society voted for the change at the society’s Oct. 30 annual general meeting.
Mo Korchinski, outgoing board chair at Alouette, said the change is for the best, with MRPMCS having a larger staff and more resources.
“Community Services is an amazing organization, and having us under their umbrella made sense to the board,” she said.
Korchinski said Alouette Addictions is a healthy organization in its own right, and faces increasing demands for its services. She expects that clients and the community will not notice a change in the day-to-day operations of Alouette Addictions.
This transition marks a significant milestone in strengthening community-based addiction support services in the community, said a press release from Community Services. Korchinski agreed, called it an “exciting new chapter” for Alouette Addictions.
“By joining Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services, we are strengthening our ability to support individuals and families on their journey to recovery,” she said. “I am grateful to our dedicated team and community partners for their ongoing commitment to compassionate care.”
Kristy Rogge has been appointed executive director of Alouette Addictions, in addition to holding that position at the top of MRPMCS.
“This transition represents a meaningful opportunity to deepen our collective impact,” said Rogge.
“By supporting Alouette Addictions through this change of control, we are reinforcing our shared commitment to inclusive, community-driven care and ensuring that individuals and families continue to receive the support they need to thrive,” she added.
The change is intended to give Alouette Addictions expanded resources, strengthened governance, and collaborative partnerships that support individuals and families affected by addiction, said the press release.
“This transition represents more than a structural change. It’s a reaffirmation of our shared belief that recovery and wellness are best achieved when our community works together,” said Lisa Begg, board chair of Community Services.
“By welcoming Alouette Addictions into MRPMCS, we are creating a stronger, more connected network of care that will benefit individuals and families affected by addiction,” Begg added. “We are proud to support this transition and the continued delivery of compassionate care that meets people where they are.”
