Man found dead in protest camp at Edgewood Ostrich Farm

Police say efforts to resuscitate a man found unresponsive at a West Kootenay ostrich farm were unsuccessful.

Nakusp RCMP’s Police Liaison Team found the man on the ground in a protest camp at Universal Ostrich Farm around 7 a.m. on Nov. 3.

“Immediate life-saving measures were undertaken by officers on site,” said Nakusp RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark in a Nov. 4 news release. “Police-initiated CPR continued until BC Emergency Health Services arrived and took conduct of the man’s care.

“Despite significant efforts by both police and paramedics, the man could not be resuscitated.”

The death is not considered suspicious and Clark said police are attempting to notify his next of kin.

Nakusp RCMP are supporting the BC Coroners Service in the investigation.
