Jerry Sulina Park goes to the dogs

Jerry Sulina off-leash dog park is a favourite among dog lovers who voted the park number one on the A List.

The off-leash area, located just north of the main parking lot at 13180 210 Street, Maple Ridge, has access to the North Alouette River for pooches to swim in and tall grass for them to play in.

Maple Ridge resident Hayley Cook said her favourite part of the park is the size of the area which allows for her dog Daisy, a two-year-old golden doodle, to get in a good run, and the fact that there are different sections, so if dogs are not getting along you can move somewhere else.

Robert Johnston, has been coming to the Jerry Sulina off-leash area for more than 11 years with different dogs.

Recently he was there with is dogs Rocky, and Zsuzsu, both Boston terrier pugs.

“We found this place and why go somewhere else because this really ticks off all the boxes,” he explained.

He likes the park because it is enclosed, easy to get to, and beautiful. And, in all the years he has been coming here, he has only seen two examples of poor behaviour.

Johnston also finds the park a perfect place to come with his dogs and decompress.

Maple Ridge Park and Jackson Farm were finalists in the category.

The off-leash area at Maple Ridge Park is located at 13165 236 St., on the east side of the park.

Here dog owners will find the city’s first dog agility course, an off-leash path loop, and a spray hydrant misting station.

Jackson Farm is also a favourite place to walk dogs. Located at 24554 102 Ave., it is a former, historic Albion farm with an open, rolling landscape and beautiful views.

Here people are reminded to walk dogs on leash.
