Ridge Meadows Flames back in action on Halloween night

The Ridge Meadows Flames are back in action on Halloween night at Cam Neely Arena.

The Flames will take on the Richmond Sockeyes, looking for revenge after a 3-2 loss at Minoru Arena on Oct. 16. Richmond has 14 wins in 15 games so far this season to top the Pacific Junior Hockey League, while the Flames are second in the same conference with a record of 9-4.

Maple Ridge’s reigning league champs are coming off a split last weekend. They lost 5-3 to Coastal in Gibsons, but beat Port Coquitlam 6-2 in their Oct. 24 home game.

The win came with a big night for defenceman Erik Sollied, who had four-points, and now has seven goals and seven assists in 13 games so far. Rookie forward Manny Sandhu also had a goal and two apples.

Tonight’s game is at 7:30 p.m. at Planet Ice.

The Flames have announced the acquisition of a hometown talent in forward Max Wingrove, who was with the Mission City Outlaws.

Wingrove, 19, is a second-year junior, having posted 12 goals and 23 points in his rookie campaign, to go with a gritty 75 penalty minutes.

This year he was wearing an ‘A’ on his jersey, and was off to a great start in Mission with eight goals and 17 points in 14 games. That total makes him the highest scorer on the Flames. He was an affiliate player with the Flames during the 2023-2024 season.

Going to The Outlaws is Mateo Prexler, another Maple Ridge product. He is a second-year player, and in 43 games with the Falmes has three goals and five points.
