Wet, rainy weather forecast for Halloween in Lower Mainland

There may be some soggy souls in costume Friday, with a wet Halloween forecast for the Lower Mainland.

While that’s not news for many who grew up in Metro Vancouver or on B.C.’s south coast, it means trick-or-treaters should be prepared for rain on Friday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The federal agency is forecasting a cloudy start to Friday (Oct. 31) with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning.

Rain — at times, heavy — will begin late in the morning, with 30 millimetres of the wet stuff expected to fall throughout the day, as well as southeast winds of 30 km/hour gusting to 50 km/hr, except gusting 70 km/hr near the Strait of Georgia in the afternoon.

Rain is also forecast for Friday night, with a high of 12 C expected.
