Jake DeBrusk scored the winner in a shootout, lifting the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 win over the host St. Louis Blues in NHL action Thursday at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
Kiefer Sherwood had all three Vancouver goals in regulation. Kevin Lankinen had a strong game in goal for the Canucks (6-6-0), making 36 saves as the Blues outshot the Canucks 39-18. Dylan Holloway, Jimmy Snuggerud and former Canucks Pius Suter scored for St. Louis (3-6-2), with goalie Jordan Binnington making 15 saves.
The Blues opened the scoring 3:23 into the first period when Holloway beat Lankinen from the right offensive faceoff circle.
Sherwood pulled Vancouver even 10 minutes later on the power play, jamming a loose puck past Binnington.
Just 58 seconds into the second period, Snuggerud gave the Blues a 2-1 lead in the late stages of a power play, snapping a shot from the right wing past Lankinen.
Sherwood’s second of the game at 10:42 made it 2-2, getting loose on a breakaway and making a nifty move to beat Binnington.
He then completed his hat trick 7:04 into the third, taking a loose puck and slotting a shot home from the right circle. It was Sherwood’s second career three-goal game. He has nine goals on the year (tied for the league lead) and has five in his last three games.

Suter drew the Blues even at 10:48 with another St Louis power-play marker Suter converted a bounce off a point shot into an open net behind Lankinen.
With 2:42 left, it appeared Evander Kane had given the Canucks a 4-3 lead, but the Blues challenged the play for goaltender interference and after a lengthy review, the goal was called off.
The Canucks visit the Minnesota Wild on Saturday (4 p.m.).
NOTES: Sherwood became the seventh player in Canucks history to score a hat trick against the Blues… Vancouver forward Brock Boeser was hurt early in the game and didn’t return. He joined Quinn Hughes, Conor Garland, Nils Höglander, Filip Chytil, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Derek Forbort, Victor Mancini, Teddy Blueger and Guillaume Brisebois on the Vancouver injury list… Jordan Kyrou, Snuggerud and Brayden Schenn failed to score for the Blues in the shootout. Sherwood hit the post and Elias Pettersson was stopped by Binnington before DeBrusk’s game-winner.
