Former Vancouver Canuck Ryan Kesler is facing two charges criminal sexual conduct in Michigan.
Kesler was arraigned on Oct. 27 in district court on two counts of fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct, according to a Wednesday (Oct. 30) press release from Michigan’s Orchard Lake Police Department.
Kesler played for the Canucks from 2004 to 2014 and was a key member in the run to the Stanley Cup final series in 2011.
Under Michigan law, fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct can mean a few different things, such as that the victim is a minor or that force or coercion was used in the alleged offence.
Police said the charges stem from an incident that was reported to the Orchard Lake Police Department on Jan. 2, 2025.
Kesler is scheduled to appear in the 48th District Court on Nov. 6 for a probable cause conference.
Bail for Kesler is set at $50,000. Police said he posted bond and was released from the police department.
Orchard Lake Police Department said it is unable to share any additional information at this time.
