Shots have been fired at another South Surrey business.
Surrey Police Service and RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) are investigating a shots fired incident that resulted in property damage to White Rock Gymnastics Athletics Society on Croydon Drive.
At approximately 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 28), RCMP SPOSU officers responded to calls of possible shots fired at the business, which is located in the 15200-block of Croydon Drive in South Surrey.
SPOSU officers arrived and confirmed that damage to the exterior of the business had been caused by gunshots, an SPS release said.
The incident is believed to have occurred between the hours of 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Nobody was inside the business at the time and there were no injuries, police said.
RCMP SPOSU General Investigation Unit has taken conduct of the investigation. The investigation is in its early stages and police will be continuing to gather evidence related to the shots fired, including liaising with police partners to determine if there are any links to other files, such as the ongoing extortion-related shootings throughout the city.
So far in Surrey this year, there were 74 reported extortions and 39 extortion-related shots fired incidents as of Monday, Oct. 27.
Earlier this month, the South Surrey location of Indian chain restaurant Ustaad G76 also experienced shots fired, as well as the Newton location of the same chain, likely within hours of each other.
Anyone with information about this incident, or anyone who may have been in the area of 15200-block of Croydon Drive between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday and witnessed the shots fired or suspicious activity, or has CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-60058 (SU).
