Ridge Meadows Rustlers teams win silver in Hometown Heroes Tournament

The Ridge Meadows Rustlers had two teams win silver medals as they hosted their Hometown Heroes Tournament from Oct. 23 to 27.

The U15 A4 team went undefeated all the way to then final. Then in the gold medal game they lost to a Chilliwack squad by a score of 2-1 in a shootout, for a memorable silver.

U13 A4 Red team also played in the tournament championship game for their division on Monday night, also taking silver.

It was a large tourney with 60 teams, some coming from as far as Vancouver Island, and the U.S.

This tournament celebrated some of the top talent from Maple Ridge hockey, with divisions named for NHLers Brendan Morrison, Andrew Ladd, Brad Hunt, Cam Neely and others.

The association hosts four big tournaments, and next up is the Rustlers Remembrance Day Classic for the U11 level on Nov. 6 to 10.

The Jim Lindsay Memorial Tournament is another big event on the calendar, just before Christmas on Dec. 18-22, for U18 teams of all levels.

The Rustlers Winter Roundup is coming after Christmas, Dec. 27-30, for U7 and U9 rep teams, and U11, U13 and U15 recreational teams.
