Tonight is the last night to audition for Emerald Pit Theatrical Society’s upcoming performance of “Five Alarm”.
Written by Kristen Da Silva, and directed by Angela Bell, the comedy takes place at a small town traditional chili cook-off, that Ava Rose wants to win after 16 years of failing to nab top prize.
However, before the day is over, childhood secrets will be exposed, blood shed, and a pot of chili tossed.
There are five character roles that need to be filled.
Ava Rose should be between 30-50 years old, a local from Killaloe, who is determined to win the chili competition in honour of her late father.
Ellen Pellham is between 20-30 years old, new to Killaloe, and a rambler with a quirky personality, who has a history of moving around a lot. She is Ava’s assistant in the competition.
Connie Gardiner is between 30-50 years old and Ava’s childhood friend turned rival. She is known for winning the competition five years in a row, through questionable means.
Tucker Dell is between 20-30 years and a fresh culinary school graduate, enthusiastic and friendly. Tucker is Connie’s assistant in the competition.
Finally, Caleb Seaton is between 30-50 years old and the prodigal Killaloen, returning to town as a reporter and judge of the chili competition.
There is room for flexibility with the ages, said the casting call, but, Ava, Connie and Caleb should be the same age, and Ellen and Tucker should be around the same age as each other.
Auditions will be taking place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the South Bonson Community Centre, 10932 Barnston View Rd., Pitt Meadows.
