UPDATE: Second person shot in Abbotsford in just over 48 hours

Gunfire rang out in Abbotsford once again, for the second time in less than three days, with the Abbotsford Police Department responding to a fatal shooting on Monday morning.

The incident occurred at 9:22 a.m. in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive, according to police.

A 68-year-old male had suffered a fatal gunshot wound while in his car, causing three nearby schools to be placed under a temporary shelter-in-place protocol, which has since been lifted.

The Abbotsford Police Department said that no arrest has been made at this time.

“A significant police presence will remain in the area throughout the day supporting the ongoing investigation,” said the police.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been deployed to Abbotsford to help investigate this most recent shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448.

This is the second recent shooting to take place in the city, with the previous one occurring early Saturday morning.

In the Oct. 25 shooting, one person suffered minor injuries, with the police saying that they don’t believe the incident was connected to extortion.
